Questions you will likely have when purchasing Blinds from Blindscape
Choosing the right blinds can be a bit of a minefield. Fortunately that’s where our 20 years of expertise come in and we are confident that you’re in very safe hands.
Picking exactly the right blinds for your home or business is something that can easily be solved with a 60 second conversation with one of our knowledgeable and very friendly members of staff.
Usually we’d need to know the basics such as:
- What do you want the blinds to achieve?
- What room is it for?
- Is there a style you particularly like or would you like us to advise?
- Do you have a budget in mind?
See below for likely questions we would ask you to aid in your blind selection.
We certainly do!
All our automated blinds are fully compatible with all the major smart speakers and with a small bit of setting up, will be opening and closing either when you tell them to or by using conditions. E.g. When it gets to 6pm then activate the blinds automatically, very useful when you’re away from home.
On a larger scale we can set up your household so your entire range of blinds are working off one single app.
Absolutely!
We can work with your architects and builders from the beginning to make sure that any motorisation or automation will be wired into the foundations before the renovations are finished. We can also offer our advice with planning and early development stages to make sure you get the exactly the right blinds you’re after.
Most blinds can come in shapes and in both manual and motorised options. We can do shapes not only for standard windows but also roof blinds.
Blinds can be motorised by 12v OR 24v battery and be either rechargeable or even solar powered!
We can offer design advice and make suggestions as to what works with what. We will also be able to advise what fabrics are best to solve your sun issues, privacy requirements and anything else you may have issues with.
As all our blinds are made bespoke it’s not a case of picking them off the shelf. But we provide a rush service for some blinds where installation can be as quick as a week. Otherwise most blinds take around 3-6 weeks between order and installation. Shutters take a little longer and lead times vary through the year from 12-16 weeks. Seasonal products like awnings can be installed within days in the winter and around 3-4 weeks in the summer.
We are proud to say that the majority of our blinds are made by us right here in Maidenhead!
We make our own rollers, wooden Venetians, pleated blinds, clip in blinds, roof blinds and motorised products. All of our curtains and romans are handmade by our seamstress and her team in Maidenhead. Our Awnings, vertical blinds, day and night blinds along with nearly everything else are also made in the UK. The only product we import are shutters which are sourced from China.
Neither. We are and always have been a local and independent with no outside ties or partnerships. Everyone that works for Blindscape lives in the Berkshire area.
We have a team of dedicated fitters that all work directly for Blindscape.
We don’t believe in rushing one of the most important parts of the work we do for you so no fitters are paid “per blind” or “per job”. Allowing our fitters to work without being pushed for time gives you a better end result.
Very much the opposite. The company was started with a distaste of what would we may call ‘double glazing salesman tactics’ (apologies to all of the honest glazing salesman out there!).
There is no obligation to purchase when we visit you. There are no time restrictions on quotations with ‘sales ending soon’ pressures. There will certainly be no phone calls back to the office to get the price miraculously reduced while we are sat on your sofa. We believe in an honest and old fashioned approach of giving you our best price every time and we absolutely guarantee it’s the same price for everyone. We couldn’t work any other way.
We offer appointments from Monday to Friday including early morning or evenings. We understand how busy your schedule is and we will do our best to work around it.
Questions we have for our customers to help them find their perfect blind
Different rooms benefit from different types of blinds, even different types of windows. For example, a conservatory can look beautiful with a custom set of roller blinds or vertical blinds. Whereas a living room could benefit from wooden blinds or venetian blinds.
Good quality blinds can do more than block out the light or stop outsiders looking in, they can help keep in the heat and keep out the cold. Talk to us today about keeping your home or office warm in the winter with some beautiful insulating blinds.
Blindscape produces blinds that can provide total day and night time privacy. This is very helpful to keep your property away from prying eyes or just from people that may walk past your windows. Security does not have to be compromised if you choose quality long lasting blinds from Blindscape.
Bathrooms can produce a lot of moisture in the air so you’ll want a blind that’s not only waterproof but rustproof as well. Choose Blindscape for your blinds today and we can guide you in exactly the right direction.
There are two ways to measure your windows for blinds and it all depends on how you want the blind to sit against the window.
RECESS Fitting:
This is where you measure inside the recess where the windows are. i.e. Where the wall dips inwards to hold the window. Measure from side to side and top to bottom. If your recess depth is 60mm or less then you will be best off going with:
EXACT Fitting:
This is when you want the blind to completely cover the window recess or if your windows are flush with the wall and there’s no recess to speak of. Here you measure where you want to the blinds to start and finish along the wall.
For best results we would recommend allowing at least 35mm overlap on each side, this will ensure there is enough space to accommodate the overlap.
